Ninmu Nanmu - C1 - P2 by JohnColburn Ninmu Nanmu - C1 - P2 by JohnColburn
So.... made a second page. This one got way too crowded, I think. I need to be more careful to save space for text as I go. It was tricky fitting those speech bubbles in, and there isn't as much dialogue as I had hoped in a couple of spots.

All in all, good stuff.

Still not sure how many of these I'll make or what kind of schedule they might see. Haven't started work on page 3 yet, so who knows. I might.

(P.S. How strong does language need to be before I tag the Deviation mature content? They say that I should mark it if I "feel uncomfortable with minors seeing it" or something, but I swear in front of minors relatively often, so I'm not really the one to ask.)

I'm a bad one to answer to since unless it has racial/bigoted overtones swear words to me are like water off a ducks fucking bucking back.

Good comic and I hope you will continue on with it since I've been big fan of your work in general (and Nimmu Nanmu [love that name] in particular).

Yeah I swear similarly when the need arises, and I'm not a big fan of censorship. Just don't want to draw the ire of any admins x_x.

Lol! I'm a bit like the anarchy guy, try to help someone out, then someone else tries to hit you, and you knock 'em down. :P I wish I could get cool clothes like that, but I don't know any good shops.

IRL you can die from a hit to the back of the head. This is because this era of the brain controls on involuntary actions and is a soft area were the brain and spine connect.

severing the spin here causes insent death and was the method of exuction perfered in the 19th century.

Hits to the back of the head are illegal in most if not all forms of fighting/martial arts.

=U

Fun fact for today.

I suppose it's a good thing, then, that Anarchy is striking in self defense against some asshole in a club instead of striking an opponent at a sporting event. Wouldn't want him to be disqualified.

And not good if Anarchy goes to jail, because he severed the Asshole's spine killing the asshole insistently.

;)

(Not that it happens all the time, just that it does happen.)

Unlikely because A) It was self defense. B) He didn't use excessive force or a deadly weapon to defend himself. C) Numerous witnesses could attest to both of those facts as well as the accidental nature of the injury.

If you could make the case that Anarchy knew the strike might be lethal/permanently damaging, he could be charged with manslaughter for defending himself with excessive force. Since he didn't, it's hard to say what, if anything, he could be charged with.

I'm just trying to be pessimistic over here and your killing all my fun!
XP

Any way, yes. Manslaughter would be what Anarchy would be charged with. (Maby going to jail, maby paying damages to the family) Were it goes after that counts.

If the School He learned Marital Arts from warned him that move was a potional death blow, then the counts could rule he should of knew better then to of used it. (Witch I assume most do.)

But for the sack of argument. If the School that taught him it, was found to not of warned him about the potional death blow. Then the counts would have reason to go after the material art's school that taught anarchy.

The way you drew this fight scean does not take away from it. The Hollywood effect if you will. As long as it looks cool then it doesn't matter.

Yeah, I'm mostly just responding for the sake of discussion. When you brought it up, I was actually kind of curious what the legal status of the whole thing was so I started looking into it and decided to share my findings. To wit:

From my research manslaughter isn't even for sure. Manslaughter seems to require an action so dangerous or reckless that the chance of injuring killing someone should be obvious and so it's definitely your fault if someone dies; you should've known better and someone died because you're a dumbass. Go directly to jail, do not pass go, etc.. Anarchy has no formal training and is pretty much just taking openings as they come; no threat of death is obvious to him, and he's not being especially reckless (pretty cautious in fact, as far as fighting goes).

I can't really find any specific example for someone accidentally dying during a self-defense situation. It would be an extreme stretch to say that Anarchy employed "excessive force" of any kind; he struck once with his bare hands in response to a single attack of the same type. If the case went the "self defense" route, I think there's a strong chance of not even a manslaughter charge. Killing an assailant in self defense is definitely manslaughter if you use excessive force and definitely not manslaughter if you use reasonable force. I don't know what happens if you use reasonable force that accidentally turns out to be unreasonable because you're not a trained martial artist and you really just wanted to put the guy down before he hurt you or someone nearby. Guess it depends on how good your lawyer is, how biased the judge is, and who they put in the jury.

Ah well. It's all just theory anyway ^^. I enjoy useless conjecture from time to time.

There is a specific term for Self Defense called "justifiable homicide"

But that is unless Man Slaughter can be established. In this case Man Slaughters would be the use of excessive force, and negligence of any sort.

If if was life or death it could be considered Justifiable Homicide. Fore example a gun man was holding up a bank, so you shot the robber to save someone eals.

In the case of a killing blow brought on with one's bare hands is another case.

It could be considered Manslaughter, but not as bad Manslaughter as drunk driving. Since it was a accident, but there was not any negligence involved.

Adrenalin was pumping, and he made the poor choice of using a killing blow.

In the end "justifiable homicide" could be established in criminal court. But that would not be the end of this.

The family could sue claims in Civil court were they would have a good chance of getting money/compensation for there son's death. In Criminal cases are one if they can be proved "with out any drought", but in Civil count you win a case based on the probability of guilt.

Moderate shock to the back of the neck or the arteries in the side of the neck are also quick ways to knock some out or incapacitate them.

Not very safe, but very effective.

Anything that would get a game rated M should probably be marked for mature content.

Anything beyond ass, bitch, and etc. That's my stand at least.

I think maybe do the mid-mature rating. Just for some of the words that were said.

I think I understand why you did not plan out the word bubbles. I think it goes back to when the old comics were just simbols that you did not need to plan it out as hard. If I am wrong, sorry.

All in all, I think it was a very good page. You main character seems to reak of bad, yet cool.

I think that may have been part of it. The symbols took less space and I drew them in alongside the characters. Here I draw the comic before lettering it, and sometimes I poorly estimate the space necessary for the text.

I also tend to mis-estimate the readability of fonts at various sizes. I had to use a font size larger than I expected. It's such a large image when I'm working on it that I forget it will be zoomed out for distribution.

Maybe then open 2 copies of the file when you are working on it. One to work on, and one to remind you of the size.

Just a thought.
