So this is yet another distraction I decided to draw while I finish out the next Ninmu Nanmu stuff. I call it "R-Type Commando".
Some people already know exactly what I did. For those who don't get it: This guy is Nathan Spencer, the protagonist of Bionic Commando (specifically how he looks in the new PS3 game by that title). He's a hard-ass soldier with a huge bionic arm that he uses as a grappling hook to swing around and beat the snot out of people. R-Type is a series of arcade games (often ported to home systems) about an advanced type of combat spacecraft known as an "R-Class Cruiser". The most notable feature of the R-Class Cruiser is its ability to control a "Force Orb", a highly dangerous and unstable form of biotechnology which is the only weapon poweful enough to defeat the Bydo Empire which is destroying humanity.
This picture is based on the purely awesome idea of combining the two games. Spencer's arm has been re-designed and re-fitted, replacing the grappling hand with a micro-fusion generator and force orb control rods. The specially designed force orb paired to his arm not only vastly increases his firepower but also has the power to latch onto surfaces and enemies; if the orb is recalled when so anchored, it will pull Spencer to its location instead of returning as normal. Experts in the field describe this fusion of gameplay as "hilariously awesome" and "totally hardcore".
Will this be the next big game? Probably not, unless Capcom buys Irem and then they both run out of all their other ideas. If that day ever comes... I'll be at the midnight release.
Sorry I can not give more insite to the games.
Not enough games are that hard in the proper ways.
